Human Interaction with Symbolic Computation (HISC)

These activities are mainly concerned with the creation of interactive books, production of new interfaces for mathematically oriented work, which is also relevant for educational innovation and tele-education. In 1994 there has been a workshop on HISC. Presently we are busy

• creating interactive lecture notes for certain mathematics courses at TUE,
• starting up an interactive survey of special functions, comprising a well-recognized major effort to revive the famous Askey-Bateman project,
• setting up the OpenMath communication standardfor the exchange of mathematical objects,
• conducting an intercity-seminar on interactive books (in particular material for interactive mathematical education),
• constructing a computer algebra library accessible via WWW.
