Abstract:
In this paper we describe a pilot study in which computer algebra
is used to find a closed expression of an approximation for
the non-linear heat transfer in an insulation layer. In our
application the insulation layer is applied to protect the
Ariane 5 engine frame during launch. The approximation for
the non-linear heat transfer will be used to reduce the number
of nodes in the numerical computations.
